Interview: W.O.W 2007

This year the first Annual Women of Worth Conference was held at Christway Church..

The event was led by Leah Royer. Of course, we can’t forget the other participants in this breakthrough conference. This would not have been possible without God or other workers in the church. The teachers were as follows: Pastor Kennis Smith, Leah Royer, Katy Reeves, Jane Butler, and Ruth Taylor. There was also Mary Cross doing sound for the first time! Kudos to you, Mary! Then all the men who got to serve us lunch, (haha) which they did a WONDERFUL job at! Matter of fact…Kudos to everyone! I had the chance to interview Leah about the conference and here it is.

KM: What is W.O.W?

LR: WOMEN OF WORTH–Self esteem; seeing yourself through God’s eyes and not your own. God placed it in my heart that we needed a special name, like C.I.A for Christway in Action, so once again, God inspired our name.

Kristal Mower: What inspired the idea for W.O.W 2007?

Leah Royer: I had it in my heart a couple of years ago to do something like this, however, it wasn’t the right time. Then, Ruth Taylor came up to me last year saying that God had placed it in her heart to do something like this as well…but it was still not the right time to get started. Finally, the right time came along and everything started falling into place. So, this was definitely God-inspired. We just had to work with His timing and be patient in the meantime.

KM: How many people attended?

LR: About 60

KM: What was your most memorable part?

LR: I think the most important thing for me was that God was teaching me that He annoints us for His service. We should ALWAYS rely on His anointing. We need to learn to clear our minds and just trust in God’s anointing! We should never rely on our own ability…just trust God and be hungry for His glory. No one can take credit for His glory but him! Just rely on His glory because then everyone has to praise His name!

KM: Do you think it was a success overall?

LR: ABSOLUTELY!!

KM: What would you do differently next time?

LR: Well, this was our first year to coordinate this conference. So it was basically our learning year and I learned that I need to let go of some of the responsibility of the natural. I was in charge of too much. We definitely need a team for the technical side. We need to keep the natural in balance and position ourselves so that everyone is doing a little bit instead of one person wearing themselves out with too much. But on a good note, everyone was SO willing to make this work for someone else’s benefit! The love of God was definitely being poured out into this.

KM: As leah said this was just the learning year for the conference. So, expect more changes and more AWESOME conferences in the future!! I also attended this conference and it was just unbelievable.
