April Newsletter
Pastor Kevin George April 30th, 2007
April 11th was a day that me and Pastor Danillo both looked forward to. On that day we climbed aboard a big commercial airliner and was on our way to America.. It had been close to three months since the last time I set foot on American soil. A certain amount of excitement grew within me as we landed in Houston and rushed to our connecting flight, as I sat in the express jet that was about to fly off to New Orleans I thought of the things that we’re accomplished in Nicaragua and how the kids would be while we we’re in America. As the plane took off I looked out the window and couldn’t help but to notice the beautiful Red ,White and Blue waving in the air. I love it in Nicaragua, but it sure was great to be home. Our next stop would be New Orleans, Louisiana ! From April 12th until the 15th White Dove was holding a rejuvenation conference.
The purpose was to help encourage and restore ministers so they would be more effective in church, on the field or wherever the call to minister was. I had never been to White Dove church before so this was a new experience for me, but it was obvious that God has blessed this church and you could tell the presence of the Lord was there from the moment you stepped inside. After everyone gathered in then we started. The first song that we sang was, How great is our God. The song always had great meaning to me because that is a question you have to always ask yourself, in every situation. How great is our God ? As we sang, then the spiritual meaning behind it really kicked in and God started moving in all the people. The song continued on as tears streamed down the side of my face. I recall the many different trials I have faced in my life and how I used to always sit in self pity letting everything get me down.
Once we realize how great our God truly is, then those problems become small and he gives us the strength to overcome. I met many great people while I was at the conference but sadly enough, the 15th came sooner than hoped for and the conference was over. Then I was on my way to Dallas, TX to meet up with some really good friends of mine that I had been blessed to go to school with. Some of them had been doing a fund raiser and handed me enough money to build another feeding station once I made it back to Nicaragua. Then before you know it I was on my way back to Louisiana, but this time it was I was heading for my home church in the small town of DeRidder. It was a long awaited trip and I was eager to get there and see the church once again. I was amazed at how the church has grown and the response of the people.
God has always been a part of that church and it shows through the impact they are making on the people and the community. There was one other church I visited while I was there. It was a small Baptist church out in the middle of the woods. It was there that I received what I consider to be one of the best gifts while I stayed in Louisiana. After the service some of the kids brought out a basin of water, a towel, and a little soap. They proceeded to remove my shoes and started washing my feet. I will never forget it, I was reminded of the time Jesus washed the disciples feet as sign of servanthood. As the night ended I was left speechless, I still can’t say much other than God Bless them for the true servants heart they have. I am now back in Nicaragua and we are getting ready to start feeding the people 4 times a week instead of the original twice a week. The task is big but then again and the people are many, How great is our God ?
